CatFish Scan – Terms of Use

Welcome to CatFish Scan (“we,” “us,” or “the App”). By using CatFish Scan, you agree
to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, discontinue use immediately.

1. Purpose of the Service

CatFish Scan provides photo forensic analysis to help users identify possible
manipulation, alterations, or AI-generated content. Results are estimates only and do
not serve as identity verification or authentication.

You acknowledge that:

  • Scan results may contain false positives or false negatives.
  • CatFish Scan does not make factual claims about authenticity.
  • You are solely responsible for how results are interpreted or used.

2. User Responsibilities

By uploading a photo, you confirm that:

  • You own the image OR have explicit permission from the person(s) depicted.
  • You are not uploading photos of minors or explicit content.
  • You will not use CatFish Scan to harass, defame, stalk, or target individuals.
  • Content submitted does not violate any third-party rights, including copyright.


Misuse can result in account suspension or permanent ban.

3. Image Handling & Storage

  • Images are processed temporarily for analysis only.
  • No images are stored, logged, saved, or used for training AI models.
  • Once analysis is complete, data is discarded automatically.


CatFish Scan does not create face databases or store biometric identifiers.

4. AI Detection Features

CatFish Scan may:

  • Detect signs of AI-generated imagery
  • Analyze image manipulation probability
  • Compare visual patterns to known generative models
  • Identify inconsistencies indicating editing


These outputs are probabilistic, not definitive.

5. Prohibited Use

You may NOT use CatFish Scan to:

  • Perform background checks or identity verification
  • Doxx, expose, or harm individuals
  • Publish scan results publicly without consent
  • Reverse engineer or replicate the software


6. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, branding, UI, algorithms, and features belong to CatFish Scan.
Users retain ownership of uploaded images.

You grant CatFish Scan a temporary, limited license to process images solely to perform the scan you request.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • CatFish Scan is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties.
  • We are not responsible for actions taken based on scan results.
  • We are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.


8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Continued use implies acceptance.
